New Experience

I'm home,not homeless. I learned a lot about the difference today. I worked my first shift at the Beacon--Christ Church Cathedral's weekend homeless shelter. I worked in the laundry, mostly handing out the freshly laundered clothes to folks. Many only have one outfit, so they wear scrubs while we wash their clothes. Then they shower, put on the clean clothes and return to the streets. Most are very grateful. So am I. I'm glad I have the chance to help. I'm thinking outside of myself. I've always done volunteer work and helped others. It is time now to take it to a new level.
